chat channels; topic containing about 521 words

Stw has several different ways to communicate with people. This is so everything is communicated in an appropriate manner.

Communication methods:

*OOC: (public). This channel is out of character, intended for all players to engage. This is the best way to ask for help with something or to help others.

*Radio: (private nearby). This has no intended style, you use it how you want. There are 99 channels that you can select from, so you and your friends can talk without disturbing others.

*Say: (public nearby). This channel is intended for in character despite it being public. Ask nearby players for help with something, or invite others to tag along with you.

*Voice: (public nearby). This channel is intended for in character despite it being public. Invite your friends and tell some stw stories or discuss an activity within the game. Or go out of character in a private area and jam to your favorite music.

*Arena: (public nearby). This channel is out of character. Communicate with others while fighting in an arena. This replaces your radio until you return to the main game.

*Private message and group chats: (pm). Communicate with specific players either in character or out of character. Talk about literally anything, just be respectful and appropriate.

*Support tickets: (stw staff). This is strictly out of character, only select stw staff will be able to read and write to you. Use this channel to report a bug, player, or any other major concerns you have with the game.

You can use the following key gestures to access these chat methods in the keyboard area, as well as access them from the conversations list using alt + c.

*backslash: OOC.

*forward slash: radio, arena, and chat commands.

To use chat commands, type a slash followed by the command and its parameters in the message field.

*shift + y: say tts.

You can wake a nearby player by typing or pasting their name into the message field.

*v: use voice chat. Press control + v to check voice chat status, and shift + v to cycle between transmission modes.

Push to talk requires you to hold v while speaking then release when done. Voice activated allows you to toggle if transmition is always enabled or disabled.

*control + numbers: private message or group chat.

In the players list, press control + p to private message a player, or control + g to create a group chat with them.

*Use the support and contact menu to create a support ticket.

Public chat is the only one that requires everyone to speak in the same language. If you would like to select a different language to chat, press f5. If you would like to send someone a pm or get their attention, you can check what language they are currently using for public chat by pressing control 1 when focused on them in the players list.

We do not force you to do role-play, but good names and using the different chat channels appropriately is enforced. Use common sense and respect people's boundaries when engaging both in character and out of character.
